Tamaki Int. - Boys Rugby 30th May

In their final warm up match before next week's Eastern Zone Finals the Tamaki Intermediate Open Grade Boys hosted Remuera Intermediate on Friday at lunchtime. It was a last chance for some of the Tamaki players to prove they deserved a spot in the tournament team for next week. The Tamaki forwards proved their worth, but Remuera Intermediate had an exceptional backline with their number 10,first five starring with exceptional attacking play. At half time the score was 15-7 to Remuera, after Ronyah had scored at the end of the second half following a devastating run from George. The Tamaki team was tiring in the second half and early points would be needed to stay close to Remuera... could they do it?

Our regular filming team was unavailable as Victor and Douglas were in the thick of things on the field, so Zubair and Vincent filmed some of the action - Moli also stepped in with an impromtu interview at the end of the match... the next step for the team is Wednesday when the Tamaki Intermediate Boys Open Grade compete against Remuera Intermediate, Howick Intermediate, Pakuranga Intermediate and the Stanhope Road/Bailey Road teams in the 2008 Eastern Zone finals.

Week Four, Term 2, 2008

This week, week four of term two.
All Room Six students must have their "being enterprising" speeches completed by the end of the week because syndicate finals are next week.

Our Boys Open Grade Rugby Union team look to win their first game of the season when they do battle against Remuera Intermediate at School on Lunchtime Friday. Boys in this game will require a pair of boots and its 15 a side competition not the 12 a side the other teams have been playing. Kick off at school will be at 12:30pm. We'll post the footage Friday afternoon/Saturday right here at tamakitoday.blogspot.com

Our Girls Basketball team look to back up a strong win against St Kentigern College Boys B team last Thursday with a game against Pakuranga 'White' at Lagoon Stadium. Cecilia will be there to film the highlights and grab an interview after the game! Could this be the game where Lasini finally breaks the magical '30' point margin? It's never been done before in the history of the school but she was only one point off last week in the 47-23 point win!

Plus we've got the second half of the Sasa Instructional Video, more Maori videos to come and finally we're back online in the classroom so look for our students to be visiting your site early in the week! Phew what a week!

Week Three, Term Two, 2008 - Update

Well done to our Y7 Girls Soccer team. At this Monday's Eastern Zone finals they had a big win in the first game, defeating Elim College 3-0 with Rochelle scoring a hat-trick. They then lost to Baradene College before drawing against Sommerville Intermediate. They still had a chance to make the semi-finals in their last game, unfortunatly for us we had the eventual tournament Champions Bucklands Beach Intermediate standing in our way! In a closely fought game BBI emerged the winners scoring in the first half and with the last kick of the game. The Soccer season has now concluded, and we are into the Rugby season offically with the Eastern Zone Finals fast approaching! If you in the Under 55kg Boys Rugby team dont forget your game at Lunchtime tomorrow against Remuera Intermediate in the Barbarians Rugby 12 a side competition, we'll have the highlights here on Tamakitoday as soon as possible!

Basketball Update

Those of you who've been following our Girls Basketball posts will know that the team has put a lot of effort into training and playing etc. That was rewarded for some of our players this week when Lasini (our top scorer who was interviewed for the 10th April game) and Cecila (who films the games and does the interviews) were both named in the Auckland U13 Girls Basketball team!

This is fantastic news for the Girls and the School and they're only the 2nd and 3rd Girls from our school to achieve this honour! Well done Girls!

Dont forget the team has another round of games coming up this term (starting in week two) as the team continues to build for the AIMS games Nationals in September!
